Is your car at risk? Climate activists are deflating tyres on SUVs!

Climate activists known as the “Tyre Extinguishers” are very controversial in their methods of protest, a feature of their tactics is deflating the tyres on SUVs and they are planning to target thousands more.

The protesters believe current climate conditions are deplorable, but they continue to be ignored by the government. They have come out and said they plan to strike even more SUVs until their concerns are properly addressed.

Police have warned that their actions will not be tolerated, but that hasn’t deterred those involved, and a spokesperson for the group stated they wish to “strike fear” into SUV owners.

A representative of Tyre Extinguishers claimed they have deflated upwards of 3,000 car tyres across London, Edinburgh, Sheffield and Cambridge and plan to continue their current strategy until their voices are heard. Despite their constant warnings about climate change, there was an increase in the purchase of SUVs by 10% between 2020 and 2021.

The impact SUVs have on the current climate cannot be denied, but the Tyre Extinguishers' methods are still deemed extreme. SUV owners going about their daily commutes could find themselves with the huge inconvenience of having to replace a tyre, this could affect their lives in various ways.

If the vigilantes continue along their current path, it may not be long before we see government intervention. They are showing no signs of changing their views and have gone on record stating their plans to continue to deflate tyres on vehicles which consume significant amounts of gas.

Are you an SUV owner? If so it might be worth keeping an eye on your vehicle when possible. The Tyre Extinguishers may well be coming to a city near you, which might result in the need for a tyre change!
