A fully functional air conditioning unit not only keeps you cool and comfortable during your journeys but also plays a crucial role in maintaining your passengers overall driving experience.
In this blog post, we will explore the top reasons why you should prioritise getting your car's air conditioning service this summer with Eurofit Autocentres.
1. Beat the Heat
The primary reason to have your car's air conditioning serviced is to beat the summer heat. When temperatures soar, stepping into a hot car can be incredibly uncomfortable and even dangerous.
A properly functioning air conditioning system will help you maintain a pleasant and cool interior temperature, allowing you to enjoy your ride, arrive at your destination refreshed, and avoid the discomfort of excessive sweating or heat exhaustion.
2. Improve Air Quality
During the summer months, the air conditioning system in your car also plays a vital role in improving the overall air quality inside the cabin. A well-maintained air conditioning unit filters out pollutants, dust, pollen, and other allergens, providing you with cleaner and healthier air to breathe while driving.
Regular servicing helps ensure that the filters are clean and functioning correctly, reducing the risk of respiratory issues and allergies.
3. Prevent Malfunctions
Like any other mechanical component, your car's air conditioning system requires regular maintenance to function optimally. Neglecting its servicing can lead to malfunctions, including issues like weak airflow, strange odours, or even complete failure.
By having your air conditioning system serviced regularly, you can detect and address potential problems early on, preventing costly repairs down the line. Proactive maintenance not only prolongs the life of your air conditioning system but also helps maintain its efficiency and performance.
4. Enhance Fuel Efficiency
An efficiently operating air conditioning system can contribute to improved fuel efficiency. If your air conditioner is not properly serviced, it may exert additional strain on the engine, resulting in increased fuel consumption.
By ensuring that your system is in top shape, you can optimise its performance and avoid unnecessary fuel wastage, ultimately saving you money at the pump.
5. Extend Lifespan
Regular maintenance and servicing can significantly extend the lifespan of your car's air conditioning system. Components such as the compressor, condenser, and evaporator require proper care to ensure they operate smoothly.
By addressing minor issues and performing routine inspections, you can prevent major breakdowns and extend the overall longevity of your air conditioning system.
6. Maintain Resale Value
If you plan to sell or trade in your car in the future, having a well-maintained air conditioning system can enhance its resale value.
Potential buyers are more likely to be interested in a vehicle that offers a reliable and efficient air conditioning system, especially during hot summer months. Regular servicing demonstrates that you have taken good care of your car and can positively influence a buyer's perception of its overall condition.
As temperatures rise during the summer months, getting your car's air conditioning service becomes crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. From keeping you cool and comfortable to improving air quality and preventing malfunctions, regular maintenance offers numerous benefits. ]]>‘Overstay charge':
For those who live in Sheffield and drive electric cars, you may face a fine of up to £20 if you are found to be stopped at charging stations for too long. The 'overstay charge' is being introduced to tackle some road users who are making it difficult for many to charge their cars and to prevent other drivers from being blocked when needing to charge.
This measure has come into effect from April 1, with Glasgow introducing a £30 fine. The Express has reported that 'a motorist left his vehicle charging overnight and received a fine of £123 when the charge was only supposed to cost £26.' While the fine for overstaying at charging stations may seem harsh to some, it's important to consider the impact of this behaviour on other drivers who also need to charge their cars.
Additionally, this could encourage more responsible behaviour from electric car users, which could ultimately benefit the environment and promote the growth of the electric car industry.
However, it's also important to address concerns about the potential negative impact of fines on the adoption of electric cars. Fines could discourage some people from buying electric cars if they feel that charging is too inconvenient or expensive. This highlights the need for cities to provide more accessible and affordable charging options for electric car users, as well as educating drivers on responsible charging practices.
If this new fine becomes successful in tackling electric car users who are taking advantage of charging stations, we expect this will be introduced in more cities across the UK where overstaying is becoming an issue and danger to others.
Car Tax Changes:
New vehicle tax rates have been released. The most important takeaway is that charges are increasing for almost all vehicles, with the exception of electric vehicles, which are still tax-exempt until 2025. Those with petrol and diesel vehicles registered after the deadline of April 1, from vehicles 51 to 75 CO2 band, will need to pay £30, up from £25.
The most polluting petrol and diesel vehicles, which are vehicles over 255 CO2 band, will need to pay £2,605, a rise of a whopping £240 from last year to battle pollution to the planet.
Council Gains New Powers:
Reading council and Hampshire council are set to gain new powers in ‘Spring 2023’ allowing them to enforce moving traffic offences.
This ranges from £20 to £105 for late payment of high level penalties which include driving in a bus lane, stopping in a yellow bus junction or illegal U turns.
At Eurofit Autocentres, we offer a range of services to ensure your car is in top condition, including brake checks, tire replacements, and oil changes. Not only will this help you avoid potential fines for vehicle defects, but it will also promote safer driving for you and other road users.
Stay safe and informed on the road with Eurofit Autocentres.
]]>First and foremost, a properly functioning clutch is essential for safe driving. A worn-out clutch can cause your vehicle to stall, which can be dangerous, especially in heavy traffic. It can also make it difficult to shift gears, which can result in increased wear and tear on other components of your vehicle.
Regular clutch servicing can prevent these problems from occurring. A professional mechanic can inspect your clutch for wear and tear, adjust the clutch cable, and replace any worn-out components. This will ensure that your clutch operates smoothly and efficiently, reducing the risk of stalling or other problems.
Another benefit of clutch servicing is that it can improve the performance of your vehicle. A worn-out clutch can cause your engine to work harder, reducing fuel efficiency and overall performance. By having your clutch serviced, you can improve your vehicle's performance and save money on fuel costs.
In addition to improving performance and safety, clutch servicing can also save you money in the long run. A worn-out clutch can cause damage to other components of your vehicle, such as the transmission and flywheel. By having your clutch checked and serviced regularly, you can catch any problems before they become more serious and expensive to fix.
Finally, it is important to note that the frequency of clutch servicing depends on a variety of factors, such as the type of vehicle you have, your driving style, and the conditions in which you drive. As a general rule, it is recommended to have your clutch checked at least once a year or every 10,000 to 15,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, if you notice any problems with your clutch, such as slipping or difficulty shifting gears, it is important to have it checked as soon as possible.
In conclusion, ensuring the regular servicing and maintenance of your clutch is crucial for safe and efficient driving, as well as for the longevity of your vehicle. If you want to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your clutch is in good hands, consider Eurofit Autocentres for your clutch servicing needs. Our team of expert mechanics will inspect your clutch thoroughly, identify any problems, and provide you with the best solutions to ensure your vehicle operates at its best. With Eurofit Autocentres, you can be confident that your vehicle's clutch is in excellent condition, allowing you to drive with confidence and ease. Contact us today to schedule your clutch service appointment.
]]>Safety
One of the most crucial reasons for replacing old tyres with new ones is safety. Worn-out tyres have less tread, which can reduce your car's ability to grip the road, especially in wet or icy conditions. This can lead to a higher risk of skidding, hydroplaning, or losing control of the vehicle. New tyres, on the other hand, have deep treads that offer improved traction, better handling, and shorter stopping distances, which can help prevent accidents.
Performance
Another important reason to invest in new tyres is to improve your car's overall performance. The tyres are the only point of contact between the car and the road, and they affect acceleration, braking, and cornering. Old, worn-out tyres can negatively impact your car's performance, making it less responsive and less stable on the road. New tyres with a high-quality tread pattern, design, and construction can help enhance your car's handling, stability, and manoeuvrability, giving you a smoother and more comfortable ride.
Fuel Efficiency
New tyres can also help you save money on fuel. When your tyres are worn out, they require more energy to roll, which can decrease your car's fuel efficiency. This means you may have to fill up your tank more frequently, leading to increased expenses. New tyres, however, are designed to provide lower rolling resistance, meaning your car will use less fuel to maintain its speed, thus reducing your fuel costs.
Environmental Impact
Finally, new tyres can have a positive impact on the environment. Tyres that are past their prime tend to produce more emissions due to their increased rolling resistance. This, in turn, contributes to air pollution and global warming. By investing in new tyres, you can reduce your car's carbon footprint and help protect the environment.
At Eurofit Autocentres, we understand the importance of new car tyres for your safety, performance, fuel efficiency, and the environment. As a customer-focused car garage, we provide a wide range of high-quality tyres from leading brands to suit your vehicle's specific needs and budget. Our team of experienced technicians can also help you choose the best tyres for your car, offer professional fitting services, and provide ongoing maintenance to ensure your tyres last longer. With Eurofit Autocentres, you can enjoy a worry-free ride with new tyres that deliver optimal performance, comfort, and safety. Visit our garage today, and let us help you get back on the road with confidence.
]]>As a car owner, you'll know that your vehicle is a valuable asset. Whether you're looking to sell your car, trade it in, or simply want to understand its worth, there are many factors that can affect its value. In this blog post, we'll explore everything that can impact the value of your car, including its condition, age, mileage, and more.
The condition of your car is one of the most significant factors affecting its value. Cars in excellent condition are worth more than those in poor condition. Any damage to your vehicle, such as scratches, dents, or rust, will decrease its value. Similarly, if your car has been in an accident, even if it has been repaired, its value will be affected. Regular maintenance and servicing can help keep your car in good condition, which will help to maintain its value.
The age of your car is another key factor in determining its value. Generally, the newer the car, the higher its value. However, this is not always the case, as some older models may have a higher value due to their rarity or desirability. In the UK, cars over three years old must undergo an annual MOT test to ensure they meet safety and environmental standards. Failing an MOT can significantly reduce the value of your car.
The mileage on your car is another important factor to consider. The more miles a car has been driven, the lower its value. High mileage can indicate that a car has been heavily used, which can lead to wear and tear and potential mechanical issues. However, if your car has a low mileage, this can be seen as a positive selling point, and could potentially increase its value.
A car's service history can also have an impact on its value. A complete and comprehensive service history can demonstrate that the car has been well-maintained and cared for, which can help to increase its value. On the other hand, a lack of service history can make potential buyers wary, as they may be unsure about the car's condition and reliability.
The market demand for your car can also affect its value. If there is high demand for a particular make and model, this can increase its value. However, if a car is unpopular or has a reputation for being unreliable, this can reduce its value. Factors such as fuel efficiency, safety features, and technological advancements can also influence a car's value.
The colour of your car can also play a role in its value. Generally, neutral colours such as black, white, and silver are more popular and can increase a car's value. Bright colours or unique paint jobs may be seen as less desirable and can decrease a car's value.
At Eurofit Autocentres, we understand that your car is an important investment. That's why we're dedicated to providing top-quality car maintenance and repair services to keep your vehicle in excellent condition. From routine servicing and MOTs to more complex repairs, our experienced technicians are committed to ensuring your car runs smoothly and safely on the road.

Recent research by Nationwide Building Society has found that 49% of respondents are delaying car maintenance and repairs due to financial concerns. With the general cost of living skyrocketing in the UK, many people are cutting back on expenses where possible, including vehicle maintenance.
However, neglecting car maintenance is a false economy. Delaying essential repairs such as worn brake pads, broken or missing wipers, dangerously worn tires, or cracked windscreens can create hazardous situations and leave drivers legally responsible for collisions. Additionally, insurance companies may refuse to cover the costs of a collision caused by improper maintenance.
Moreover, proper maintenance is crucial to ensure safety on the road. A vehicle breakdown is most likely to happen when maintenance, care, and repairs have been neglected. This is because cars must constantly hold up against huge forces as heavy objects moving at speed. Letting small components wear seems like saving money until that wear compounds into a much more extensive (and therefore expensive) problem.
The cost of repairs is also a significant concern for drivers, with the average cost of repairs in 2021 sitting at £437. Some drivers have had to spend more than £1000 on repairs, making maintenance a financial burden for many.
In conclusion, car maintenance is crucial to ensure safety on the road, but it can also be costly. While it's understandable that people are looking to save money where possible due to the cost of living crisis, it's essential to prioritize maintenance and repair needs to avoid more significant expenses and potentially dangerous situations in the future. One way to save on car maintenance costs is to take advantage of the affordable repair services offered by Eurofit Autocentres. With their experienced mechanics and state-of-the-art facilities, Eurofit Autocentres can help keep your car running smoothly and safely without breaking the bank.
]]>Potholes are a ubiquitous sight on UK roads – it’s hard to find a road user who hasn’t had to dodge one on a daily basis. Potholes are often formed when water enters cracks in the road surface and freezes, causing the road surface to crack further. The cost of repairing pothole-ridden local roads in England and Wales has been estimated at a staggering £12.6 billion, and the problem has been exacerbated by the wet then cold winter, which caused significant damage to the UK’s road network.
The UK Government has acknowledged the severity of the pothole problem and has allocated funding to local councils to repair local roads. The Potholes Fund, which previously provided £500 million annually to councils, will be increased to £700 million in the 2023/24 financial year. While this is a step in the right direction, recent analysis by the Local Government Association has shown that government funding for maintaining major A roads and motorways is 31 times higher per mile than for repairing local roads.
During his Budget speech, the Chancellor, Mr Hunt, acknowledged the impact of the “curse of potholes” following the wet then cold winter, which resulted in “strong representations” from MPs and councillors. The additional £200 million in funding is welcome, but it is recognized as a fraction of the amount needed for local authorities to fix potholes. Rick Green, who chairs the Asphalt Industry Alliance, welcomed the additional funding but described it as “a fraction of the amount” local authorities need to fix potholes.
While the additional funding is a step in the right direction, it is worth noting that road maintenance extends beyond the road surface to things like bridges, and councils also need funding to shore up the thousands of sub-standard crossings that are out there. The Asphalt Industry Alliance has been calling for a long-term investment plan for local roads to ensure that road users see real improvement in structural conditions on the roads they use every day.
The pothole problem is not unique to the UK, and other countries have taken innovative approaches to tackle the problem. In the Netherlands, for example, a new type of asphalt has been developed that contains small capsules filled with a material that expands when heated. When water enters the road surface and freezes, the capsules release the expanding material, filling the cracks and preventing potholes from forming.
Another approach is to use recycled plastic to repair potholes. In India, a company called K.K. Plastic Waste Management has developed a process that turns plastic waste into a material that can be used to repair potholes. The process involves shredding plastic waste and mixing it with bitumen to create a durable and water-resistant material that can be used to fill potholes.
While these innovative approaches are encouraging, they are not a substitute for long-term investment in local roads. The pothole problem is a symptom of a network that has been underfunded for many years, and without a visible long-term investment plan, road users won’t see any real improvement in structural conditions on the roads they use every day.
In conclusion, the UK Government’s allocation of an additional £200 million to the Potholes Fund is welcome, but it is recognized as a fraction of the amount needed to fix potholes. Potholes are a curse for road users, and local councils need long-term investment to ensure that road users see real improvement in structural conditions on the roads they use every day. While innovative approaches like using recycled plastic or developing new types of asphalt are encouraging, they are not a substitute for long-term investment in local roads.
]]>March is an important month for car enthusiasts, especially those who love muscle cars. This is because March marks the birth month of one of the most iconic muscle cars in history - the Ford Mustang. In this blog post, we will explore the history of muscle cars and how they have evolved over the years.
Muscle cars are a quintessential American creation. They emerged in the mid-1960s, as automakers began to fit powerful engines into their smaller and lighter models. The idea behind muscle cars was simple - take an affordable, compact car and put a high-performance engine in it. The result was a car that was both fast and affordable.
The first muscle car is generally considered to be the 1964 Pontiac GTO. It was a mid-size car with a powerful V8 engine that could produce up to 325 horsepower. The GTO was a huge success and other automakers quickly followed suit. Ford introduced the Mustang in April 1964, which quickly became an icon of American muscle cars.
The Mustang was designed to be a sporty car that was affordable for the average person. It was available with a range of engines, including a 289 cubic inch V8 that could produce up to 271 horsepower. The Mustang was an instant success and spawned a whole range of imitators from other automakers.
The golden age of muscle cars was from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s. During this time, automakers were producing some of the most powerful and exciting cars ever made. Cars like the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Charger, Plymouth Road Runner, and Pontiac Firebird were all part of this golden age.
However, the golden age of muscle cars came to an end in the early 1970s. New government regulations and rising fuel prices made it increasingly difficult for automakers to produce high-performance cars. As a result, muscle cars began to decline in popularity.
In the decades that followed, muscle cars underwent a transformation. They became more sophisticated and refined, with advanced technology and safety features. The performance of modern muscle cars is still impressive, but they are no longer the raw and powerful machines of the past.
Today, muscle cars continue to be popular with car enthusiasts. They are a symbol of American automotive culture and a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of American automakers. While they may not be as popular as they once were, they still hold a special place in the hearts of car lovers around the world.
In conclusion, the Ford Mustang is a true icon of American automotive history, and March is the perfect time to celebrate its legacy. Muscle cars have come a long way since the 1960s, but their place in American culture is secure. They are a reminder of a time when cars were designed to be fast, powerful, and exciting, and they continue to inspire car enthusiasts today.
]]>Car detailing is the process of cleaning and restoring a car to its original condition, or even better. It's a great way to keep your car looking its best and can even help to maintain its value. For beginners, car detailing can seem like a daunting task, but with the right techniques and tools, it can be a rewarding and satisfying experience. In this blog, we'll provide you with some tips to help you get started with car detailing.
You Gather your supplies: Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. This includes car shampoo, microfiber towels, a bucket, a hose or pressure washer, a clay bar, a polish, and wax. You may also want to invest in a detailing brush, a foam cannon, and a buffer.
Start with a thorough wash: The first step in detailing your car is to give it a thorough wash. Start by rinsing the car with water to remove any loose dirt and debris. Then, apply car shampoo to a clean sponge or mitt and wash the car in sections, starting from the top and working your way down. Rinse the car thoroughly and dry it with a microfiber towel.
Use a clay bar: After washing your car, it's a good idea to use a clay bar to remove any contaminants that may be stuck to the paint. This includes things like tree sap, bug splatter, and tar. Simply lubricate the clay bar with a detailing spray and gently rub it over the surface of the paint.
Polish the paint: Once your car is clean and free of contaminants, it's time to polish the paint. This will remove any light scratches or swirl marks and restore the shine to your car's finish. Apply a small amount of polish to a foam applicator pad and work it into the paint in circular motions. Use a clean microfiber towel to remove any excess polish.
Apply wax: After polishing the paint, it's important to protect it with a coat of wax. Wax will help to prevent damage from UV rays, water, and other contaminants. Apply a small amount of wax to a foam applicator pad and work it into the paint in circular motions. Allow the wax to dry to a haze, then use a clean microfiber towel to remove it.
Don't forget the interior: Detailing your car isn't just about the exterior. You should also pay attention to the interior. Start by vacuuming the carpets and seats to remove any dirt or debris. Then, wipe down the dashboard and other surfaces with a mild cleaner and a microfiber towel.
Maintain your car: Once you've finished detailing your car, it's important to maintain it to keep it looking its best. This includes regular washing and waxing, as well as keeping the interior clean and free of debris.
Detailing your car can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it does take some time and effort. By following these tips, you can achieve a professional-looking finish and keep your car looking great for years to come.
]]>However, the process of acquiring this skill can often be frustrating, tense, and exceedingly costly. Thus, having a comprehensive understanding of the learning process, including the associated costs and timelines, can be quite advantageous.
How long does it take to learn to drive?
To calculate the cost of learning to drive, it's necessary to consider the duration of the learning process. Typically, it takes approximately 45 hours of lessons, although the time frame for spreading out these sessions varies significantly and significantly impacts the overall learning period.
This is because mastering any skill through short and infrequent bursts of practice usually extends the learning process. Initially, getting into a car and comprehending the functions of each pedal may feel like operating heavy machinery. The goal is to develop muscle memory for all movements to be able to perform them instinctively, freeing the mind to focus on the road ahead.
Typically, driving lessons span between 60 to 120 minutes, with longer sessions offering more opportunities to hone specific skills. With a weekly 120-minute lesson, you may be prepared to take your driving test within six months.
The cost of driving lessons
Driving instructors are not subject to any set minimum or maximum fees for their services. Instead, their rates typically align with the market prices in their geographical location, and they must account for expenses such as vehicle maintenance, insurance, and fuel.
The cost of driving lessons can range between £30 to £60 per hour, depending on the instructor's expertise, specialisations such as automatic driving, and location.
Booking your theory test
It's advisable to book your theory test as soon as possible since available slots tend to be in high demand, resulting in a waiting period. Utilising phone applications can significantly aid in learning and revising all necessary materials for the test.
Many of the concepts required for the theory test are typically integrated into the learning process.
Booking your driving test
Your driving instructor will determine when you're adequately prepared to take the test. Typically, this decision is based on your ability to confidently drive without any guidance or notes from the instructor for several hours.
At times, it's natural to perceive that an instructor may be intentionally delaying your progress, but in most cases, their judgment is correct. Passing the driving test necessitates demonstrating the ability to safely drive a vehicle independently, including carrying passengers on public roads, making it a crucial decision.
Getting your first car
Once you've passed your test & secured your first car. You can always trust the experts at your Eurofit Autocentres to keep it in great condition!
]]>As we move into a new year, there are a number of new driving rules and regulations that motorists in the UK need to be aware of. These changes are aimed at improving air quality, reducing emissions, and making our roads safer for all users. Some of the new rules are nationwide, while others are area-specific, but regardless of where you live, it's important to stay informed to avoid potential fines and penalties.
One of the most significant changes is the expansion of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to cover all 33 boroughs. First introduced in April 2019, the ULEZ is designed to tackle air pollution in the capital by charging drivers of older, more polluting vehicles to enter the zone. From August 29, 2023, the ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, and non-compliant vehicles could face a daily charge of £12.50. However, exemptions will apply to residents parked inside these zones that don't drive.
London is not the only city introducing clean air zones. Other cities like Manchester, Tyneside, Sheffield, and Glasgow are all launching or have already launched similar initiatives to combat air pollution. In Tyneside, charges for vehicles that exceed emission standards were introduced in January 2023 after launching the clean air zone in October 2022.
Sheffield will implement a Class C clean air zone on February 27, 2023, which will charge between £10 and £50 per day for non-compliant vehicles. Glasgow will also tighten restrictions for its Low Emission Zones to include all vehicles from June 1, 2023, with non-compliant vehicles facing a fine of £60.
In addition to the expansion of clean air zones, there are other changes to speed limits and fuel duty rates that drivers need to be aware of. From September 17, 2023, speed limits on most restricted roads in Wales will be cut from 30mph to 20mph to improve the safety of residential and pedestrian areas.
Meanwhile, UK fuel duty rates were temporarily reduced by 5p for 12 months to help households manage rising fuel prices and other costs. However, this reduction will end on March 23, 2023, and fuel duty rates are due to return to normal. There are also plans for fuel duty rates to increase by 12p per litre in March, although this will be subject to government confirmation in the Spring Budget on March 15.
Finally, there are changes to Benefits in Kind (BiK) for company cars. Employees who are furnished with a company car must pay a BiK contribution, which is a form of company car tax. To encourage the transition to electric vehicles, the government has frozen BiK rates until April 2025, which means that there will be no increase in BiK rates for company cars until that time.
Overall, it's clear that there are a number of important changes that drivers need to be aware of in the coming year. Whether you live in London or another part of the UK, it's important to stay informed about these new rules and regulations to avoid potential fines and penalties. While some of these changes may be inconvenient, they are all aimed at improving air quality, reducing emissions, and making our roads safer for everyone.
]]>Engine Lubrication as mentioned, one of the primary functions of engine oil is to lubricate the engine's moving parts. Over time, the oil can break down and become less effective at providing this lubrication. This can cause friction between the engine's parts, which can lead to wear and tear, damage, and even engine failure. Regular oil changes help ensure that your engine is properly lubricated and protected.
Engine Cleanliness In addition to lubrication, engine oil also helps keep the engine clean. As oil circulates through the engine, it picks up dirt, debris, and other contaminants. Over time, these particles can build up and cause damage to the engine's components. Regular oil changes help flush out this debris, ensuring that the engine stays clean and protected.
Temperature Regulation The oil in your car helps regulate the engine's temperature. As oil circulates through the engine, it absorbs heat and helps dissipate it. Over time, oil can break down and lose its ability to regulate temperature, which can cause the engine to overheat. Regular oil changes help ensure that the oil in your engine is fresh and able to effectively regulate temperature.
Improved Fuel Economy A dirty or low oil level can also affect your car's fuel economy. When your engine is not properly lubricated, it has to work harder to perform, which can result in decreased fuel efficiency. Regular oil changes can help keep your engine running smoothly and efficiently, which can help improve your car's fuel economy.
In conclusion, regular oil changes are a critical part of car maintenance. By keeping your engine properly lubricated, clean, and at the right temperature, you can help ensure that it runs smoothly and efficiently.

]]>In the morning when you’re preparing your car, make sure that you defrost your car properly and ensure that you aren’t just looking through a small gap when driving! To assist with defrosting, turn on the air conditioning on the windscreen setting and remove the snow with a soft brush or use a scraper to remove any ice from the windows. You can also use a de-icer if the ice is proving difficult!
Don’t let the snow keep you from being seen! Make certain that all of your lights, front and back, are completely free of snow. Another tip whilst doing your lights also remove the snow off your license plates to avoid fines.
The conditions of the roads worsen in winter and your tyres can help keep you safe; main roads will be less hazardous, but not all roads will be treated with the same care. We strongly advise you to have the correct tyre tread. Even better, you could get winter tyres that are designed for snow and ice, giving you more traction.
Always try to plan your route ahead of time, and use main roads as much as possible because they are more likely to be cleared of snow and gritted. Take off earlier than usual because journeys will take longer in the winter.
When driving in winter conditions, be extra cautious. Here are a few things you can do to help with this. If your vehicle has a winter mode, it will start in higher gears, reducing tyre spin. Reduce the risk of an accident by increasing the stopping distance between yourself and other vehicles. When approaching a bend, brake before starting to turn; this way, you'll have more control. Hills can be tricky; try to maintain the same speed without changing gears when going uphill.
As always, remember, Eurofit Autocentres specialises in brakes, servicing, MOTs, and tyres! Prepare for winter by visiting your nearest Eurofit Autocentres or you can book online using our easy online booking tool!
Be sure to check out our various FREE health checks to give you peace of mind this winter season! Stay safe!
]]>Let’s get this conversation started and settled once and for all. Head over to @eurofitautocentres and share your opinion with us!
George Bernard Shaw once said, “Britain and America are two countries separated by a common language.” Nowhere is that more apparent than in the difference between the car and the automobile!
Now if we're talking common languages; let's start with the different words for the same object. Whilst we Brits call it a ‘bonnet’, our friends over the pond refer to it as a ‘hood’ we know it as the ‘boot’ and the Americans refer to it as a ‘trunk’ That's the top and bottom of it…
Now we're not here to debate English vs American English… Let’s get this discussion on the road. The only question that remains is are you taking the Aston Martin or Mustang?
Whilst American cars have always had a reputation for being bigger and flashier! Did you know they are considerably cheaper to run? The current price for fuel in the US is about $0.92 per litre (£0.60) compared to about £1.40 per litre in the UK. This is because drivers in the US pay only 6% in tax for their fuel, while UK drivers pay about 40% - a massive difference. Now before you apply for your VISA to the states, let's dig deeper.
Now the difference between American and British cars is about as stark as the classic British Black cab and NYC Yellow Taxi cab!
So we’ve dropped some big names within this article! Now we want to hear your opinion! Who wins when it comes to England vs USA car brands?
Head over to @eurofitautocentres and share your opinion with us! Send us a tweet and we will re-share your thoughts!
]]>Everyone knows, old is gold! It’s never been more evident by the fact that 40% of all cars on the road will be more than a decade old in five years time!
The Daily Mail reported an interesting statistic truly reflective of today’s economic crisis.
Did you know the average asking price of a 10-year-old car on Auto Trader is up by £2,000 since 2019?
]]>The Daily Mail reported an interesting statistic truly reflective of today’s economic crisis.
Did you know the average asking price of a 10-year-old car on Auto Trader is up by £2,000 since 2019?
What are the most popular cars resold on Auto Trader?
Right at the top, we have Ford Fiesta followed by VW Golf and the BMW 3 series.
We all have a special place in our hearts for our first banger that got us from A to B so gallantly! It seems everyone will be holding onto their beloved banger as a record 15.4 million cars on Britain's roads are forecast to be at least ten years old by 2027.
Drivers in Britain are expected to be behind the wheel of an extra 3.6 million decade-old cars compared to 2021. This means 40 per cent of cars on the road will be more than 10 years old in five years.
Why are we seeing this rise?
Classified advertising firm Auto Trader, based on the forecast DVLA data, says the rise is due to disruption to car production during the pandemic.
Shortages of semiconductors and other car parts have left two million old cars on the road compared with pre-virus trends.
How cost-effective is an older car?
The average asking price of ten-year-old cars on Auto Trader is up by £2,000 to £6,176 since 2019.
You must also consider the cost of maintenance and potential faults an older car may develop.
Our expert opinion?
Older cars can be kept in good working condition if you maintain regular services and MOTS.
It is also important for older vehicles to top up fluids and change filters regularly.
Taking your vehicle for regular health checks ensures small issues don't develop into larger costly problems.
You can also take advantage of our FREE vehicle health check to ensure your older vehicle is in great condition eliminating costly repairs and breakdowns.

Wheel alignment; also known as tracking, is the process of ensuring your vehicle’s wheels are set to the optimum position as per the car manufacturer’s specifications.
Tracking allows tyres to wear evenly in the direction the tyres are set. It is vital to get your wheel alignment checked regularly to maximise the life span of your tyres.
At Eurofit Autocentres we have the latest 3D 4-wheel alignment technology which reports accurate results and printouts of readings before and after adjustment.
£10 OFF MOT/SERVICEYou can gift your loved ones, £10 OFF their next MOT & Service.
During your MOT, our trained technicians inspect all of the important parts of your vehicle to check it meets the legal standards set out by the DSVA to help keep you as safe as possible on the road.
Regular vehicle servicing will reduce the risk of you breaking down. It will help you prolong the vehicle’s lifespan, and maintain the value of your vehicle.
It is important to remember your car service is different from your car MOT. Regular servicing allows you to get ahead of any issues that could potentially become very costly.
We offer main dealer servicing without affecting the manufacturers' warranty. Your vehicle manufacturer usually recommends that you service your vehicle every 12,000 miles or every 12 months. However, certain newer vehicle manufacturers call for a 24,000-mile or 24-month service with longer-life oil.
The standard vehicle will do 12,000 miles a year, but it all depends on your personal situation and what you have been recommended by your insurer.
Eurofit offers three service plans to accommodate your vehicle servicing requirements.
Interim Service: This includes a 55-point check of your car or van, including oil and oil filter changes. An interim service is undertaken after the vehicle has done 6,000 miles or every 6 months.
Full Service: This is an intensive 85-point check of your vehicle including, oil, oil filter and air filter. A full service is undertaken after the vehicle has done 12,000 miles or every 12 months whichever comes first.
We will also stamp your vehicle service book and reset your service indicator.
Dealer Scheduled Service: This bespoke option is tailored specifically to your vehicle’s make, age and mileage, and will be carried out in accordance with your vehicle’s manufacturer servicing schedules.
£15 OFF STEERING/SUSPENSIONThe steering and suspension system enables your vehicle to manoeuvre, increasing stability on the road. If you think there are any signs of problems, our ATA-qualified technicians are here to help.
Our qualified technicians will inspect your vehicle to identify any defects and provide a complete overview of the vehicle's steering & suspension condition.
£20 OFF BRAKES!We all know that the braking system within your vehicle is the mechanism that allows your vehicle to slow and stop safely. It is important to regularly maintain the braking system, to help keep your vehicle safe and to prevent any damage to other components leading to a costly repair.
Eurofit Autocentres recommends your vehicle undertakes a brake inspection by our qualified technicians who will advise on which braking components require replacement.

]]>The Daily Mail reported a very interesting and intriguing story today regarding a peculiar experience with a vehicle repair centre.
Phil Chatburn, a company manager was left furious when his pick-up truck was returned to him from the vehicle repair centre with new dents and damage as well as 2,000 extra miles on the car!
His truck had travelled the equivalent of a journey to Istanbul or two thirds of the way to New York during an unexpected five-month spell at the garage.
When he was eventually told his vehicle was ready to collect, he was met with numerous new dents and scratched to the vehicle and also noticed a screeching sound coming from the front wheels.
Concerned about his vehicle, he phones the RAC, who found the brake pads and discs were so badly worn out they had to tow the vehicle straight back to the garage.
In even worse news, Mr Chatburn, was sent an invoice from the garage for almost £1,200 to cover the extra repairs; none of which he accepts responsibility for.
He said: “I could have driven to Edinburgh and back four times to run that milage up.”
The vehicle repair centre claimed that they were test driving the truck but Mr Chatburn is left confused as to why they would possibly need to test drive that many miles. “It doesn't make sense!” he said.
Mr Chatburn took his three-year-old Navara to the Bristol Street Motors dealership in Halifax in April after the persistent problems with a part called the diesel particulate filter, which had caused it to break down several times.
But the problem apparently confounded mechanics. Mr Chatburn claimed that when he phoned for updates he was wither told his truck was unroadworthy or that they were awaiting a part from Japan.
During the lengthy stay at the repair centre, the mileometer had leapt from 25,145 miles to 27,216 miles. Mr Chatburn said: “I checked with independent experts who said a reasonable amount of mileage for test drives would have been between 30 and 50 miles.”
A spokesman for the dealership has spoken out and said “We acknowledge we did not keep Mr Chatburn up to date with the number of miles driven by technicians to ascertain a confirmed diagnosis and to enable a part to be ordered and fitted, which has resolved the fault.
‘Therefore, as a gesture of goodwill we will make a payment to cover the mileage costs and we will arrange for the bodywork damage to his car to be repaired.”
For now, Mr Chatburn is back in a courtesy car and is demanding the garage cover the cost of the brake repairs.
WOW! Now that’s a story!
Rest assured that your local Eurofit Autocentres offer a swift and professional service, keeping your vehicle repair simple! No unnecessary lengthy stays! No jargon! Definitely no extra 2,000 miles to your vehicle!

]]>Here’s our list of a “pre MOT check” that might just get you that PASS first time!
The minimum legal tyre tread depth is 1.6mm so make sure that all of your tyres are comfortably over this or you could be facing a fail on your MOT!
Get hold of a tread depth gauge or use the old 20p hack and ideally change your tyres if they are under 3mm at any point. If you're unsure, head round to your friendly local Eurofit Autocentre.
The 20p Test:
Simply place a 20p coin into the main tread grooves of your tyre. If the outer band of the 20p coin is obscured when it is inserted, then your tread is above the legal limit. If the outer band of the coin is visible, then your tyres may be illegal and unsafe and should be checked immediately by a qualified tyre professional. Eurofit Autocentres is happy to help check this for you with our FREE tyre check.
Did you know that having window stickers that may obstruct your view could cause you to fail your MOT! If in doubt check with a qualified professional to see if your window stickers are deemed obstructive to your view when driving.
Make sure your wiper rubber is in good condition and the wiper motors function properly. If your wipers are not fully functioning you will fail your MOT as visibility is a key aspect often checked thoroughly during the MOT test. Also don't forget to top up your windscreen washer fluid - believe it or not, if you're out of screenwash, that's a fail.
On the subject of visibility - Too many or large and obstructive air freshers or car accessories can fail your MOT if the drivers view is obstructed in anyway.
Another area you may forget about when its time for your MOT time is your vehicle identification. If your number plates are not clean and legible, a stricter MOT centre will fail you, so give them a once-over with a damp cloth before you head off just to be safe.
If you have a custom or personalised plate, make sure the typeface and spacing of letters and numbers comply with the legal requirements.
That concludes our pre MOT check - If in doubt, take advantage of our FREE checks at Eurofit Autocentres and don’t forget to book in for your MOT at our competitive prices.

]]>To help make the cold mornings a little easier for you, Eurofit Autocentres have put together this short guide on how to get your car ready for driving as safely and quickly as possible when it’s cold outside.
If it’s taking you too long to get on the road in cold weather, it may be that there are steps you could be doing more efficiently or steps you could be skipping altogether! Either way, we've got you covered!
Don’t let the cold weather ruin your day (or your car!) The trick to properly warming up your vehicle is to warm up your engine only as long as it takes to make your car comfortable and safe to drive. Here’s what you should do!
It should be out in the open, not in a garage or enclosed parking lot. If it is, move your car to the open air.
The defroster will help clear the window while the engine warms up, spray your defroster and let it get to work.
Try turning the car’s heater up all the way to warm up the air in your car. You could also try turning on the air conditioner temporarily in order to draw extra water out of the air. Be sure to turn off air circulation within the car to bring in fresh air from outside. Are your windows still foggy? Open your windows slightly, if possible, to bring in more fresh air.
Top Tip: Try keeping a sock filled with car litter near your windshield overnight. This will absorb extra moisture in the car keeping your windows from fogging up!
Keep your engine running for around 30-60 seconds before hitting the road. That’s all it takes in most vehicles that are 30 years old or newer. If it’s extremely cold out and your vehicle is covered in ice or snow you may need to give it a minute or two longer to warm up.
A long period of idling (leaving a vehicle's engine running while the vehicle is not in motion.) your car can be bad for your engine.
It will help to remember to start slowly and take it easy on the gas pedal for about 5-15 minutes when driving in the winter months. Otherwise, you could stress out your engine before it’s had time to reach its normal performance levels.
Any concerns? Come down to your local Eurofit Autocentre for a FREE health check.

The condition of your vehicle is important to us which is why we offer a free no obligation health check. You can’t deny a bargain and the Citroen Ami is definitely just that! Even better when you are not only saving money but helping the environment!
]]>You can’t deny a bargain and the Citroen Ami is definitely just that! Even better when you are not only saving money but helping the environment!
The innovative vehicle is priced at £7695 or as little as £19.99 a month on a PCP finance plan. The amazing electric vehicle is set to be the cheapest form of electric transport in the UK.
The Ami has very few rivals in its category as it technically isn't a car at all. It is classified as an electric quadricycle, heard of before by models such as the Renault Twixy, although the Twizy is not currently on sale in the UK.
What are the selling points for this unique form of transport?
Other than the obvious attractive price point the Citroen Ami has many desirable features and attractive benefits that may cause us to see a big rise in this futuristic vehicle.
Fun Fact: The Citroen is a french manufactured vehicle and in France, the Ami can be driven by 14-year-olds without a licence. No such legal exception applies in the UK, so you’ll need a full UK driving licence.
In the UK, you can finance an Ami from £19.99 per month on a 24-month PCP agreement with a £2369 deposit and a maximum annual mileage of 5000. Once your contract is finished, you'll be able to pay an optional final payment of £5594 to purchase your Ami outright
Did you know: All the UK-bound Amis are left-hand drive, so we’d recommend testing one first to see if you can deal with this quirk.
Is this the future of electric cars and vehicles in general? Let us know your thoughts and whether or not you think this affordable and economical “vehicle” is something you would take for a test drive on our social media @Eurofitautocentres.

]]>Every year a lot of car owners make this error of judgement and end up having to pay out more than necessary.
]]>Tyres can account for up to 20% of your car’s fuel consumption, so tyres that are unsuitable for the weather or in poor condition will see you needlessly part with extra cash.
Every year car owners spend excess money on fuel, not knowing that something as simple as properly fitted tyres can save them plenty of money.
When your car tyres rotate around different road surfaces, they eventually cause energy loss. If your tyres are in poor health, your vehicle will naturally consume more fuel and as a result, will be unkind to your bank balance.
Here's how to avoid spending more than you need to;
Different weather means different tyres. Although not illegal, it’s not recommended to keep the same set of tyres all year round. Summer tyres have a relatively hard compound, which softens in mild temperatures to be able to adapt to dry as well as wet roads. Summer tyres can handle most conditions, but they are not suitable for harsher, colder climates. They have less rubber than winter tyres and they can harden and become brittle if used consistently on wet and icy roads.
Winter tyres in comparison have higher rubber content, which keeps them supple in the cold. They soften and are able to interlock with wet road surfaces when used, improving the car’s grip and stability on the road. Winter tyres perform best in temperatures below 7 degrees C, therefore more adept at handling colder weather.
Rolling resistance is the force required to keep your vehicle moving at a certain pace. It’s determined by the amount of friction applied to the tyres, which in turn effects the energy and fuel usage by your car. Low rolling resistance means less force is needed to keep the tyres functioning adequately, and in turn, less fuel is consumed. Bear in mind, the weight of the vehicle, gravity and inertia, the amount of friction between the tires and the road surface, and air drag all play a part in rolling resistance.
There are 10 Eurofit centres in the West Midlands, find your nearest one here. Have one of our skilled technicians take a look at your car and ensure it’s ready whatever the weather. Save money by booking in one of our centres today and fight rising fuel costs!
]]>We understand that MOTs can be costly, particularly with the rise in fuel prices, but at Eurofit Autocentres, we’ve got you covered. It’s now £39 for a full MOT, to tackle any issues your vehicle may have or to help maintain a smooth running.
]]>No matter the issue, we will fix it and you can rest assured you will be provided with the best possible service.
All UK registered vehicles over 3 years old are required by law to have an annual inspection known as the MOT test. This is to ensure the vehicle meets the minimum government standards for roadworthiness, vehicle safety and emission levels. You can book up to 31 days before its due date.
If your car is deemed not up to code for any particular reason, you could pose a threat to other road users as well as endangering your own health and any passengers you may be carrying. It’s important to schedule an MOT check when necessary- remember, an MOT is NOT the same as a service.
You can be forgiven for thinking that if your vehicle has passed an MOT test, it is reliable and safe to drive for another year, however, the MOT test is the very basic in terms of an assessment. The MOT inspector conducting the check is not allowed to make any alternations to any mechanical components during examination.
